LJUBLJANA, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- French carmaker Renault's Slovenian unit Revoz said on Wednesday that it will reduce its staff by 350 or some 14.5 percent before the end of the year due to a shortage of electronic components.

"Production will be reduced from 650 to 490 cars per day," the company said in a statement.

"Uncertain conditions in the car industry are mainly a result of a shortage of semiconductors, as well as other troubles, which are connected to the COVID-19 health crisis or are emerging on markets of industrial parts and raw materials," it said.

Revoz is one of Slovenia's largest exporters. The company currently employs 2,400 people. It produces electric and petrol cars such as Renault's Twingo, Clio and Smart models. The company expects its production to fall to about 105,000 units this year from 140,000 in 2020. Enditem
