Azerbaijan invites Chinese companies to invest in its industrial parks

BAKU, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev called on Chinese companies and investment funds to invest in the industrial parks in the country, Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers said in a statement Wednesday.

Speaking at the eighth meeting of the Azerbaijan-China Intergovernmental Trade-Economic Cooperation Commission, held through video conferencing, Mustafayev affirmed his country's support on his issue.

Mustafayev, who is the co-chair of the commission, praised the cooperation between the two countries in transport and transit sectors, saying the Baku International Sea Trade Port, Alat Free Economic Zone and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway contributed considerably to this cooperation.

He hailed the importance of China's Belt and Road Initiative, noting that Azerbaijan was one of the first countries to officially support the project.

The Azerbaijani deputy prime minister expressed his country's interest in benefiting from China's rich experience in digital development and information and communications sectors.

Mustafayev also highlighted opportunities for the export of Azerbaijani non-oil products to China, describing the Chinese market as being very attractive in this regard.

He hailed Azerbaijan-China cooperation since the outbreak of COVID-19, and thanked the Chinese government and people for support in the fight against the pandemic.

Yu Jianhua, China's international trade representative and vice minister of commerce, said China considers Azerbaijan an important partner in terms of the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Yu, who is also co-chair of the commission, expressed the hope that both countries will continue efforts to ensure sustainable development of cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics.
