SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- San Francisco-base tech firm Cloudflare Inc. said Monday it is cooperating with investigators after being accused of protecting three websites with child-sex-abuse content.
Doug Kramer, lawyer of Cloudflare that offers website security services, told local media that the company is cooperating with investigators about the child porn sites by providing them with information about Cloudflare users.
Cloudflare has taken down the three websites, which were not identified by name, local media reported. The company has been accused of protecting the websites for years.
Cloudflare offers a popular online security service to websites that can protect their servers from attack or being sought after from their hosting providers.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, a non-profit that fights against child sexual exploitation, has notified Cloudflare of the porn images on the three websites since 2014.
Kramer said Cloudflare does not host any content and is "not in a position to remove content from the internet," but the company will provide any possible help to investigators to ban illegal content.
