SHENYANG, April 20 (Xinhua) -- A district in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, launched 22 projects for protection and utilization of cultural relics on Monday, according to local authorities.

Shenhe District invested 910 million yuan (about 128.57 million U.S. dollars) in the projects to upgrade a tourist attraction into a 5A-rated one, China's highest such rating, and improve infrastructure and landscape.

"We plan to upgrade the national tourist attraction in three years," said Lin Yuhang, head of the district.

The district has 42 cultural relics under protection and historic buildings including the Shenyang Palace Museum, along with 49 time-honored brands and pieces of intangible cultural heritage.

The Shenyang Palace was the royal complex of three emperors in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Enditem
